Why I Love This BookOliver Jeffers is a rare find, he's both the author and illustrator of his books. I consider it a double threat. On his website, Jeffers calls himself an artist first and author second. Additionally, he's added the following labels: painter, bookmaker, collage creator, performance artist, and sculptor.
Many first experienced Jeffers through his illustrations of the book The Day the Crayons Quit. I've been an admirer for quite a while. Yes, I love his illustrations, but it's his slightly off kilter approach to his stories that I'm drawn to. His approach to storytelling takes you by surprise. It's refreshing, humorous, and slightly odd at times. Themes
